Natalie Beissel Memorial Scholarship Fund

Natalie Beissel was a fourth-year medical student at A.T. Still University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) when her life was taken tragically in an act of domestic violence on July 30, 2015. She was ranked in the top 10 percent in a class of more than 100 students. She planned to pursue an Internal Medicine Residency at the time of her death. She was well-respected by both her superiors and classmates for her leadership and interpersonal skills. Natalie was posthumously granted the degree Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) at SOMA’s 2016 graduation ceremony.

Thanks to the generosity of Natalie’s family and friends we have created the Natalie Beissel Scholarship. This scholarship not only is a tribute to Natalie, but also honors her dedication to the study of the human body and passion for others. This annual scholarship provides financial assistance to a fourth-year SOMA student ranked in the top 15 percent of their class, who also demonstrates a caring personality toward patients and coworkers - a trait Natalie embodied.

Each August, Natalie’s family and friends host a fundraising event, Love Conquers Violence in Minneapolis, to provide awareness about domestic violence and raise funds to support this scholarship.

Your contribution will allow us to keep Natalie’s memory alive and provide much-needed support to a future osteopathic physician.
